Every wedding is unique, but Lauren & Jack’s day at Lark Hill Garrison in Salisbury was something truly special. With Lauren’s father serving as a Major in the British Army, the couple were able to host their reception in the Officer’s Mess – a venue steeped in history and royal connections. Just a week before, King Charles himself had 'lunched' there, and the walls carry signatures and memories of Queen Elizabeth II. It was an incredible setting, grand yet warm, and the perfect backdrop to a very memorable wedding.
Before the celebrations at the Garrison, Lauren travelled in style in a classic Rolls Royce, collected from the Officer’s Mess and taken up to The Garrison Church of St Alban The Martyr. With its striking red brick and Swedish-influenced design, the church felt regal and distinctive – a setting that perfectly reflected the significance of the day. Their ceremony was moving, heartfelt, and full of tradition.
The summer sun was blazing, making the grand reception rooms at the Officer’s Mess an idyllic place for the drinks reception. Pimm's was the order of the day – refreshing, quintessentially British, and perfect for the weather. Guests mingled outside in the sunshine too, soaking up the atmosphere before moving inside for the wedding breakfast.
The speeches were a real highlight. They were heartfelt, funny, and emotional in equal measure. Lauren’s sister gave a Maid of Honour speech that had everyone laughing – a brilliant personal touch.
As the evening unfolded, guests headed back outside where the sky treated us to a stunning sunset. We took full advantage, capturing beautiful portraits in the golden light. Things got lively when the champagne spray went slightly awry – more hilarious than glamorous, but the photos will be cherished!
Back inside, the dance floor came alive. Guests threw some brilliant shapes, and the energy never dropped. From the first dance right through to the late-night celebrations, it was pure joy from start to finish.
Weddings on a working military base aren’t something you get to photograph every day. From the security passes to the “access all areas” credentials, it all felt very special. It was an honour to be part of Lauren & Jack’s day, and I left with a huge smile on my face, grateful to have captured such a unique and regal celebration.
