Every now and then, a wedding day unfolds in such a way that it feels like a film set. Sophie & Ben’s day at The Courtyard Barns, Wartnaby was one of those. Blue skies, fluffy white clouds drifting above the Leicestershire countryside... it honestly looked like something straight out of Toy Story.
This venue is relatively new, run by the absolutely lovely Bill & Emma, and I have to say, they’ve created something really special. If you’re looking for a rustic barn wedding in Leicestershire, it’s definitely worth a look.
Sophie spent the morning getting ready in the house with her bridesmaids. It was full of laughter, a few happy tears, and that buzz of excitement that only builds as the morning ticks closer to “I do.”
The barn itself made for a beautiful setting as Sophie walked down the aisle. Warm light poured in, bouncing off the wood and stone, and there was this lovely calmness about the whole ceremony. You could really feel the personal touches that Sophie & Ben had chosen to make it their own.
When the ceremony gave way to sunshine, guests spilled out into the courtyard for drinks. And what a scorcher it was! Cold fizz in hand, sunglasses on, and plenty of chatter and laughter as everyone enjoyed the first chance to properly celebrate with the new Mr & Mrs.
Inside the barn again for food and speeches, there was one part that really stood out. Sophie & Ben gave a joint speech together. Such a nice touch, and it made the whole thing feel so personal and heartfelt. As the evening light softened, the courtyard came alive again with lawn games and relaxed fun. Then, just when I thought the day couldn’t get more perfect, we were treated to the most stunning sunset, golden light flooding the fields behind the barn, the kind photographers dream of.
Of course, no wedding is complete without a packed dance floor, and Sophie & Ben’s guests didn’t disappoint. From the first dance through to the late-night shots, it was pure energy, laughter, and a brilliant way to round off an incredible day.
