Ali and Neilesh’s wedding was an absolute joy to capture – from the intimate morning preparations to a surprise brass band and one of the best sunsets I’ve ever photographed.
Bridal Prep
I started the day at Ali’s house for some relaxed bridal prep. Ali had warned me that she’s “not really into all that” – not one for pink and fluffy, and more often found out cycling or hiking than in a dress. But bridal prep isn’t about ticking off a list of girly traditions; it’s about documenting the real emotions before the ceremony – the nerves, the laughter, and those little in-between moments.
Ali looked amazing in her dress, paired perfectly with white Converse for that alternative, personal twist. For someone who rarely wears dresses, she absolutely rocked it.
Ceremony at West Bridgford Registry Office
The couple tied the knot at the ever-lovely West Bridgford Registry Office – one of my favourite Nottinghamshire wedding venues for civil ceremonies. It has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and makes a brilliant backdrop for photos.
Their ceremony was beautiful, with a heartfelt reading from the bridesmaids that had everyone smiling. Afterwards, the iconic confetti throw on the steps of West Bridgford Registry Office didn’t disappoint. Those steps naturally bring everyone together, making for brilliant, joy-filled confetti shots with the gorgeous building in the background.
The gardens just outside also gave us the perfect spot for a few relaxed portraits and hugs straight after the “I dos.”

Reception at Long Clawson Village Hall
From there, we headed over to Long Clawson Village Hall, where Ali had pulled off an incredible surprise – a secret brass band to welcome the guests! The look on Neilesh’s face when they started playing was priceless, and it set the tone for the rest of the day: fun, unique, and full of energy.
The joint best men speech was another highlight – complete with props, impeccable timing, and plenty of laughter. It had the whole room in stitches and gave me some brilliant candid reaction shots.
Sunset Magic
Just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better, the skies treated us to the most stunning golden sunset. Ali and Neilesh slipped outside for a few minutes, and we captured some incredible portraits in that glowing evening light – the perfect full stop to a wonderful day.
A Wedding Full of Heart
From start to finish, this wedding was packed with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Ali and Neilesh created a day that was completely “them,” and it was such a privilege to capture it all.
